Soil Remediation Intern
Learn how contaminated land gets assessed and restored by supporting real soil remediation projects in oil, gas and mining.
Are you a student or fresh graduate who wants hands-on experience restoring contaminated land? Sirkularium is opening an internship focused on soil remediation, hosted in the Sustainable Resources practice. The internship is always open: you can apply at any time, and interns join for 3 to 6 months by agreement. You would support real remediation projects across oil and gas, mining and other industries, from soil and groundwater data to remediation design and monitoring, guided directly by Sirkularium's specialists. A monthly stipend is provided, and the work is on-site in East Jakarta.
About Sirkularium
Sirkularium is an Indonesian consultancy for the environment, working across three practices: Waste and Pollution, Energy and Climate, and Sustainable Resources. The Sustainable Resources practice supports government and industry on responsible mining, natural resource management, environmental economics and land remediation.
Sirkularium has worked with a Danish government institution, the Danish Environmental Protection Agency, under the Strategic Sector Cooperation programme. This gives the team direct experience with international governance and reporting standards.
Your role
As a Soil Remediation Intern you work alongside Sirkularium's specialists on live projects. You help organise and analyse soil and groundwater data, support the characterisation of contamination such as hydrocarbons and heavy metals, and contribute to the assessments, designs and monitoring reports that drive real clean-ups.
This is a learning role by design: you are mentored throughout, your work feeds into real deliverables rather than simulated exercises, and the scope grows with what you show you can do.
What you will do
- Support site and soil assessments: organise sampling data, lab results and site records
- Help characterise contamination such as hydrocarbons and heavy metals, and map its extent
- Assist in drafting assessment reports, remediation designs and monitoring reports
- Prepare maps, charts and presentation materials for project and client work
- Learn Indonesian environmental standards and permitting for soil remediation
- Join project meetings, and site or laboratory visits where relevant
Who should apply
- Final-year student or fresh graduate (S1) in environmental engineering, geology, chemistry, soil science or a related field
- Comfortable working with data in spreadsheets; lab or fieldwork coursework is a plus
- Clear written Bahasa Indonesia; working English is an advantage
- Curious, organised and reliable
- Available for 3 to 6 months
What Sirkularium offers
The internship runs 3 to 6 months by agreement, on-site in East Jakarta, with a monthly stipend. You are mentored by Sirkularium's remediation specialists and contribute to real deliverables on real sites.
You finish with a certificate, a portfolio of contributions to actual assessments and designs, and a professional network across the oil and gas, mining and environmental sectors. Interns who perform well are first in line when junior roles or the expert pool open up.
This internship is always open, so you can apply at any time; applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and matched to project needs. Attach your CV and academic transcript merged in one PDF, and use the cover note to tell us what you want to learn. Sirkularium welcomes applications from all qualified persons regardless of race, sex, religion, age or disability; only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
